Small fast growing companies, particularly those in early stage of development, often require equity beyond the owners' personal means to fund their development. The terms demanded by Venture Capital funds, if you can even get their attention (and more importantly hold it post investment), can be unpalatable to many. However, to go it on your own under s. 708 of the Corporations Act 2001, you are limited to who can raise monies from and the quantum. Do not trip over any of these rules unless you want to have "interesting" discussions with ASIC. Have you heard of the Australian Small Scale Offerings Board (ASSOB)? Read September's issue of Ruminations to find out more. This may be exactly the avenue you need to fast track your business' potential! Contact us for a presentation of how the ASSOB platform can work for you. |
